If you can Help, Please do

I received this email from St. Louis Christian College.  Stacy Garner was a professor of mine and his church was destroyed by a tornado on Good Friday.  If there is anything you can do to help, please do.  Take a look at his website and see how you can help.

Fellow alumni:
Attached is a letter from Stacy Garner (‘89) regarding the help which is needed for the Ferguson Christian Church.  The tornado destroyed the church building, but the church family is well.  The church needs assistance and anything you could send would be a great blessing to the church family.

Gifts can be made payable to Ferguson Christian Church and sent to Brian Glore (’87), church treasurer, 3 Bromley Dr., Ferguson, MO  63135.  Of course, your prayers are greatly coveted.

You can check out the church’s website at http://www.fergusonchristianchurch.org/.

The following clip was aired on the Today Show which included the worship service Sunday morning in the SLCC chapel.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and help.

Dear Friends,

A devastating EF 4 tornado ravaged Saint Louis on Good Friday, April 22, 2011. The church building, contents, and landscape of Ferguson Christian Church were basically destroyed. Thankfully no lives were lost; buildings and landscape can be replaced, but lives are precious, so we are joyfully praising God for his safekeeping.

We need your help. Could you send a check to Ferguson Christian Church to help meet our many needs.

Many of you have offered expressions of love, concern, prayers and hands-on assistance. We thank God for you. Your love, encouragement and prayers are so vital, especially during this very difficult time. This letter serves as both a thank you for your Christian love and encouragement. We also want you to know how you can help.

1. Even though Ferguson Christian Church has insurance coverage, it seldom covers the costs of a loss like this one. We have a deductible that must be paid. We are also convinced that there will be other expenses that will not be covered by insurance. Any gift you could send to the church would help with this need.

2. Many, if not all of the people who came to watch The Passion of the Christ on that dreadful Friday night have cars which have sustained damage—some of which was major damage. Each of these families has an insurance deductible they must pay. Your help in meeting those insurance deductibles would be a wonderful blessing.

3. We have needs that are more “hands-on”. We’ve had many come already from Saint Louis Christian College and Harvester Christian Church. There is much more to be done, both now and in the weeks and months ahead. Our point-person for coordinating groups is Bob Edwards. He can be reached at BJDEdwards@aol.com or (314) 837-5573.

For now our home will be on the campus of Saint Louis Christian College. In fact, we had a wonderful Resurrection Sunday Worship Service in the SLCC Chapel on Easter Sunday! President and Mrs. Veech as well as Dr. Mike Chambers joined with us as we celebrated the resurrection of our Messiah! We are so appreciative of how Saint Louis Christian College has stepped up to the plate and hit a homerun for our Church.

Pray for Ferguson Christian Church,

Stacy Garner, Minister

We have a job to do

In life we do many Jobs, but do we do our most important job? Well let me ask you this, do you know what the most important job is? Is it helping the poor? Is it making money? Is it rising your kids right? Or is it telling others about God?

16 The 11 disciples traveled to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had directed them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped, but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20 (HCSB)

This is our job and we are to do it. No ands, ifs, or butts about it. But to this date there are not a lot of Christians that do this. See now-a-days people believe that there is something wrong or it’s not polite to tell people about Jesus and what He has done for us.

This past Sunday was Easter and we had 50 people in church, this is about 25 more than any other Sunday. Now I know that Christmas and Easter and Mothers Day are the 3 biggest church days but why is that. Well let me tell you because that is something my family did as a kid, it because that’s what you do. (At least that’s what my dad told me)

We need to tell people about Jesus and we need teach them to go to church.

7 But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 (HCSB)

That verse means we should get together with other Christians and praise God together. Now does this mean church? Not always but where do we find other Christians every week, same bat time same bat channel… CHURCH. That’s why we need to go to church every Sunday, to grow and learn. You would not sign up for college to learn and never go.

So this week go out and tell others about Jesus and bring them to church so that they can learn. And if you don’t go to church on Sunday then GO and LEARN.

Charles Spurgeon said this; “If you do not have a passion to see lost soul saved, then you are not saved yourself. Be sure of that.

A Christian Walking With the Mormons

Last week the family and I was in Salt Lake and we needed something to do.  I thought about taking the girls to a park but seeing as last time we did that… well lets just say there were to many homeless people for my taste.  Don’t think that I hate people because they are hard on their luck, but when you a 2 and 4 year old, well it just someplace you don’t need to take them.

So as we where in Salt Lake I decided that since I had been study the Mormon faith for the past 5 years I should go and see the Temple Square.  Here are some of my Pictures from that trip.

Now although it is a nice place, my heart hurt the entire time.  I was walking though all these Mormons and I just wanted to start yelling as loud as I could the truth of Jesus Christ. If I did not have my girls with me then I might had, but I did not yell or say a thing, I just prayed.

I was talking to a young lady who worked in one of the buildings and when she asked me if I was Mormon I told her that I was a Baptist preacher and all she had to say to me was, “Great”.

She, as a young work has been told that she is a Christian because that is the lie that the Mormon Church is trying to pass. For me to go and tell her that I was Baptist did nothing for her but to me I seen that if she does not change and find the truth then… well the Bible tells us;

8 But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars—their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”     Rev 21:8 (HCSB)

No outer darkness but the lake of fire, the second death, HELL.  There are so many people in the world that is lost and there are some that believe they are right with God but they will find out that they are wrong.

For the Christians reading this, I ask you to pray for the people working in Utah and with Mormons around the world.  This is a job that is hard and Heart breaking.

If there are any Mormons reading this, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come to know the truth.  Read the bible and understand that Joseph Smith was wrong and believe in the Bible as the only true Word of God.  Your Soul is on the line.

8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— 9 not from works, so that no one can boast. Eph 2:8-9 (HCSB)

22 Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth. For I am God, and there is no other.  Isaiah 45:22 (HCSB)

Until Next Time…
